The Benefits of Hiring a Social Media Expert –
Kris Degioia – CEO, WTF Multimedia |Forbes Top 10 Digital Marketing Strategist | Forbes Top 50 Social Media Marketer | |National Speaker | LinkedIn Coach…
and My Social Media Super Hero
If you struggle with what and how to take advantage of Social Media, Kris is absolutely one of the best there is!
Being a Driver In a Vehicle Without a Wheel
Like many entrepreneurs I have a driver temperament, which means I like to be in charge, I love control, and I have a hard time letting others do something without at least having a basic understanding of what it is they do. If you know anything about the temperaments you know that drivers like to DO things themselves, because drivers believe they can do everything better than anyone, even when they know nothing about whatever it is. J
Unfortunately, being a driver is not very productive when the vehicle your attempting to drive has no steering wheel or controls. That’s how I felt in dealing with Social Media. I didn’t know what I was doing, where I was going or if I was making any progress in getting there!
My Checkered Past with Social Media
Social Media is something that I had messed around with for years. I was a very late arrival in the social media scene because I just didn’t see how it was beneficial to know what people were eating for dinner, what funny thing their cat did, or pictures of their vacation. When I finally succumbed to the pressure to get involved in social media I really struggled, social media just wasn’t doing anything for me. I had been on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter for years and was gaining no ground. In fact, if you added all my Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter connections together the total may have been near 2,000, which I thought was pretty good. But still I was gaining no traction. No one really knew who I was, my rankings and profile visits were awful, I was following more people on Twitter than were following me. In short, I had no idea what I was doing and I simply didn’t have the time to learn the minutia of effectively growing my social profile.
A Light on the Horizon
I noticed several posts from this young woman that were quite impressive. She is a Forbes Top 10 Digital Marketing Strategist and Forbes Top 50 Social Media Marketer. What was interesting is that she rarely posted information on growing a social network, yet she was everywhere. I looked up her profile, and was delighted to find that she operates her company, WTF Multimedia, right here in Nashville. She is also a former official at Google, and many other attributes of her career that I found impressive.
I took a chance and sent her a connection request and she connected with me. I watched her posts, her rankings, etc. and realized I needed to take a chance and see if someone like that could or would work with me. I messaged her and we chatted back and forth. Eventually, we had a meeting. I’m old school and when I hire someone, be it an employee, contractor or consultant, a face to face meeting is required without exception. Fortunately, she agreed to meet with me and the rest is history.
Amazing Results from My New Social Media Hero
I love working with Kris. She, like me, is a “straight shooter”. She doesn’t mince words. You’ll never have to guess what she thinks about a subject, nor will you ever doubt her amazing talent.
I have been staggered to see what Kris is capable of accomplishing in my social media world. My profile views and rankings have gone from the mid 100’s to top 2 (sometimes 3) consistently. My connections have gone from a couple of thousand to nearly 10,000 organic connections in about 5 months, and people are beginning to know who I am, and what I can do to help them improve their business or their life.
Sometimes we make good connections, sometimes connections are less than good. In this case, I am so happy I made the connection with Kris. She has become my Social Media Hero. And although I’m sure she sometimes gets tired of me asking her what she’s doing and trying to understand how what she does works, she has stuck with me and made my social footprint bigger, my business more known, and my life better for knowing her.
My thanks to you Kris, for all you do. Both the things I understand and the things I haven’t a clue about. Obviously, what you do works and it is exciting for me to be listed as a client of yours.
My Recommendation
I’m sure that you, like me, are an expert in your field. As experts we invest massive amounts of time and money to gain that expertise. Imagine what it would be like if everyone you came across felt they could do what you do equally well, only because it looks simple on the surface.
I know from personal experience that it is not a rare thing to find someone who thinks they can do what I do, simply because they see only the surface and not the true depth of what I offer. Doesn’t it make sense then, that when we are good at something, we hire people who are experts at the things which we are not? Of course it does.
My recommendation is this. If you can get Kris Degioia to work with you do it. She’s on every Social Site that matters and is easy to find. If you don’t or can’t hire Kris but are struggling with all the nuances of social media marketing find someone to help you. The guidance and work of a skilled social media marketing consultant is invaluable and can quickly send your social presence into the stratosphere!
